● Supernova + Sustainability
Evolving also means using resources better
Every website uses energy. We design platforms that use less of it, and we prove it with independent evidence anyone can verify.
Digital sustainability is one more dimension of technological quality: faster, lighter platforms that create value without ignoring the impact needed to produce it.

● Website Carbon rating
● CO₂ per visit to this site
● cleaner than web pages globally

● The context
The internet isn’t weightless
Every visit to a website moves data through data centers, networks and screens, and every step uses electricity. One visit emits a fraction of a gram of CO₂. Multiplied by billions of people online every day, it becomes hundreds of millions of tonnes a year.
1.5–4%
of global greenhouse gas emissions come from information and communication technologies, according to estimates cited by the World Bank and the ITU: a scale comparable to global aviation.
● Data centers
Servers that store and process each page, and the cooling that keeps them running.
● Networks
The infrastructure that carries every image, font and script to the visitor.
● Devices
The energy each phone or computer spends downloading and rendering the page.
● How it’s measured
A footprint you can calculate, not guess
The Sustainable Web Design Model (SWDM) is an open methodology created by Wholegrain Digital, Mightybytes, Footprint, EcoPing and The Green Web Foundation. Version 4, published in 2024, separates the energy of each visit from the footprint of building the infrastructure, and adjusts the result to the hosting’s real share of renewable energy. Website Carbon has used it since July 2025.
● Data transferred
The main indicator: every uncompressed image, extra font, third-party script and line of code adds energy.
● Infrastructure efficiency
How efficiently the data center and network deliver each page.
● Energy source
The Green Hosting Factor rewards hosting that runs on verified renewable energy.
● Put it in numbers
What a lighter website saves in a year
Pick how many people visit your website each month and see, in everyday terms, how much CO₂ a lighter website keeps out of the air.
1How many people visit your website each month?
2What that website emits in a year
about 1 g of CO₂ per visit120 kg
0.04 g of CO₂ per visit4.8 kg
3Every year you would avoid 115 kg of CO₂. That is the same as…
Illustrative estimate: 1 g per visit for a heavy website vs. 0.04 g for this one (Website Carbon). Equivalences: U.S. EPA Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies, via Project Drawdown (2025).
● The evidence
We measure ourselves too
Every claim on this page links to an independent source. No promises: public data you can check in seconds.

Website Carbon

Each visit to supernovacr.com produces 0.04 g of CO₂, and the site runs on sustainable energy. The badge below links to the public result.
● GREEN HOSTING VERIFICATION
The Green Web Foundation
This non-profit based in Amsterdam checks the site’s IP address against its Green Web Dataset, where hosting providers must submit documented evidence of renewable energy. It isn’t self-declared: it’s verified.
● PERFORMANCE AND USER EXPERIENCE
GTmetrix
Screenshot of the report · October 24, 2026
Well below Google’s recommended thresholds (LCP under 2.5 s, TBT under 200 ms, CLS under 0.1): the page loads almost instantly, without blocking or visual jumps.
● QUALITY AUDIT · DESKTOP
Google Lighthouse
Screenshot of the report · October 24, 2026
Google’s own open audit tool. The home page transfers 476 KB in total, a fraction of a typical modern page.
● DIGITAL GOVERNANCE AND TRANSPARENCY
carbon.txt
An open standard from The Green Web Foundation, inspired by robots.txt: a single, machine-readable file where a site links the public evidence behind its sustainability claims. Any ESG committee, auditor or automated system can check it in seconds.
● Offsetting
Every project leaves something growing
The footprint we can’t avoid, we offset. At the end of every project we deliver a personalized certificate confirming 50 trees planted through Tree-Nation, the reforestation platform founded in 2006 in Barcelona, with projects on five continents.

● Why it matters
Sustainable is also better business
The decisions that reduce a website’s footprint are the same ones that make it faster, easier to find and cheaper to run.
● Better experience
Faster pages lower bounce rates and raise conversion. Core Web Vitals are an official Google ranking factor since 2021.
● Visibility in SEO and GEO
Fast, clean, semantic pages are easier for Google and AI engines to crawl, understand and cite.
● Lower operating costs
Less data and processing means lighter infrastructure and lower hosting costs.
● ESG evidence
Responsible Business Conduct frameworks, such as the OECD’s, expect companies to manage the impacts under their control, including their own website.
● How we build it
Decisions from day one, not an audit after launch
✓ Compressed WebP images of 7–29 KB
✓ Two type families, nothing more
✓ Third-party content that loads only on demand
✓ No sliders or autoplay video
✓ Caching and compression on every page
✓ Verified green hosting
✓ A page-weight budget for every template
✓ Clean, semantic code that search and AI engines understand

We plant trees through Tree-Nation for the footprint that remains.
● Report
Public evidence and carbon.txt, ready for ESG reports.
● FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does a website really pollute?
Yes. Every visit uses electricity in data centers, networks and devices. One visit is a fraction of a gram of CO₂, but multiplied by thousands of monthly visits it becomes a measurable footprint.
Does a lighter site look or perform worse?
The opposite. Lighter pages load faster, feel smoother and rank better. This site reaches a GTmetrix grade A while keeping a full visual design.
How can I verify these numbers?
Every result on this page links to its public source: Website Carbon, The Green Web Foundation, GTmetrix, PageSpeed Insights, Tree-Nation and our carbon.txt.
Can you do this for my platform?
Yes. We can audit your current site, build a new one under these criteria, and deliver the evidence for your ESG reporting.
